Health and treatment

This section addresses a health system running at a fraction of its capacity: only 19 hospitals and 73 of 158 health centres partially operational, just 2,200 beds and 107 intensive care beds for more than two million people, and over 930 documented attacks on health care since October 2023.

The most serious figure here is the waiting list: more than 18,500 critically ill patients need medical evacuation, 4,000 of them children — and at the current rate evacuating them all would take between five and ten years. At least 1,092 patients registered for evacuation died before their turn came.

That figure is precisely what ties this section to our programme: treatment abroad is not a luxury in this context, it is the only route for cases that cannot be treated inside the Strip.
