About TAZC

Two decades of compassion and humanitarian action.

Tareeq Alzuhoor Charity (TAZC) is dedicated to improving the health, education, safety, and well-being of children and vulnerable populations affected by war, conflict, displacement, poverty, and humanitarian crises.

Our Founding Story

It began with the hearts of Iraqi children, and reaches Gaza today.

We work to deliver assistance and projects that help individuals and communities rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

TAZC was founded by renowned Iraqi oud musician Naseer Shamma in 2005 to provide medical care for Iraqi children suffering from congenital heart disease who lacked the means or opportunity to receive treatment in Iraq.

In 2023, TAZC was formally registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the United States.

In 2026, TAZC initiates its first educational program for children in Gaza.

Leadership

A multidisciplinary board of leaders.

A five-member board spanning medicine, media, engineering, education, and the arts. That mix is what lets TAZC run medical treatment, early learning, and food security side by side — and judge each program from the right professional angle.

Two decades, four defining milestones.

2005
TAZC is founded
Iraqi oud musician Naseer Shamma founds TAZC to provide medical care for Iraqi children with congenital heart disease who lacked the means or opportunity to receive treatment in Iraq.
2005–2018
Over 1,300 children treated
In partnership with Narayana Health City in Bangalore, India, TAZC treats more than 1,300 Iraqi children.
2023
U.S. 501(c)(3) registration
TAZC is formally registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the United States.
2026
First educational program in Gaza
TAZC initiates a learning and recreational program for children aged 4–6, focusing on those who have lost one or both parents.
