Privacy Policy

This page explains what the Tareeq Alzuhoor Charity Inc. website collects from you, why, and who sees it. It was written to match what the site actually does rather than to read as a generic template.
No cookies, no tracking
This site sets no cookies on your device when you browse it, and uses no Google Analytics and no tracking or advertising tools. Your information is never sold and never shared for marketing — not now, and not later without this page being updated first.
The only cookies this site sets belong to the charity team signing in to the admin panel. None are ever created for an ordinary visitor.
When you press the donate button, your browser is handed over to Stripe's own payment page at checkout.stripe.com. That page is not ours. It sets its own cookies under Stripe's privacy policy, and they are necessary to take the payment and to prevent fraud.
What we collect, and when
We collect nothing until you send a form or give, yourself. At that point we keep:
- Contact form: your name, email address, subject, and message.
- Volunteer form: your name, email address, country, skills, and why you want to help.
- Donations: your name and email address, the amount and currency, whether the gift is one-time or monthly, the programme you directed it to, the language of the page you gave from, and whether you asked to be left off the supporters page.
We also record the IP address the request came from and the time it arrived. That has two purposes and no others: stopping the forms being flooded by automated messages, and establishing the circumstances of a disputed payment. It is not used to track you around the internet or to build an advertising profile.
Your card details never reach us
Your card number, its expiry date, and its security code are all typed on Stripe's page, not on this site. They never reach our servers, we do not store them, and we cannot see them.
What comes back to us from Stripe after a payment is: whether it succeeded or was declined, the amount actually collected, Stripe's own identifiers for the transaction, the link to the receipt Stripe issues, and the reason for a decline if the card was refused. We receive no card number and no part of one that would let us use it.
The donor record
We keep a record for each donor that brings their gifts together: how many, the total, the dates of the first and most recent, and whether a monthly gift is currently running. This is what lets us issue receipts, manage monthly giving, and keep the charity's accounts and annual report. It is not used for anything else.
Your name on the supporters page
Our supporters page publishes the donor's name and the amount. That is the default, and it is stated in writing directly above the payment button.
If you tick "Give anonymously" before paying, your name is shown to no visitor — not there, and not in a programme's list of supporters. We still hold your name in our own records, because a charity that cannot identify its donors cannot issue a receipt, answer a bank query, or process a refund.
Changed your mind after giving? Write to us and we will hide your name — or restore it — within one working day.
Why we use it
- To reply to you, which is why you wrote.
- To send an automatic confirmation containing a copy of your message, so you know it arrived.
- To send your donation receipt, and to tell you when a monthly gift starts, fails, or ends.
- To assess volunteer and partnership enquiries.
- To keep the charity's accounts and meet the tax obligations that come with them.
- To protect the forms from repeated automated submissions.
Receipts and monthly-giving notices are operational messages and always go out, because you are owed them. Charity news reaches you only until you ask us to stop, and every one of those emails carries a link to stop it.
Who sees it
Members of the charity team with access to the admin panel, according to the permissions each of them holds. Your information also passes through three providers and no others:
- Stripe, to process the payment. What you type on its page is governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
- The email provider that runs
info@tazcharity.org, through which the messages we send and receive travel. - The hosting provider that runs the site and its database.
We share your information with nobody else, and we sell it to nobody.
How long we keep it
Contact and volunteer messages stay with us for as long as we need them to reply and follow up, then they are deleted, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time.
Donation records are kept for longer: we are required to retain them for accounting and for United States tax requirements. This means we can hide your name from public view and stop every message we send you, but we cannot erase the record of a gift that actually happened — and we will not promise that we can.
Your rights
Write to info@tazcharity.org to ask for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete what can be deleted, to take your name off the supporters page, or to stop every message from us. Every request gets an answer.
Children
This site is intended for adults who want to support our work. We do not ask for or knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we add an analytics tool, another payment provider, or any new third party, this page will be updated. The last-updated date is shown at the top of the page.
