Education in Gaza

This section addresses the largest interruption to schooling a whole generation has seen: more than 637,000 children in Gaza out of education, 97.5% of schools damaged or destroyed, and 60% of school-age children with no in-person learning at all.

The articles explain what that actually means: what a child loses in three years out of school and what can be recovered, how the temporary learning spaces run by UNICEF, UNRWA, and the education cluster work, and why 335,000 children under five are at risk of developmental delay after early-childhood services collapsed.

We name the institutions: UNRWA, whose schools became shelters; UNICEF and the Back to Learning campaign targeting 336,000 children; the education ministry; and the local organisations actually running the classes.
